THE ISSUE
In today's ever-evolving world, a STEM-based education centered on technology and digital literacy is no longer a luxury; it's a necessity.
Unfortunately, many communities of children, particularly in various regions within Nigeria and around the world, face significant barriers in accessing various essential resources.
As a result, countless young minds are left behind, unable to explore the vast opportunities that the field of computer science and programming can offer.
OUR SOLUTION
Our Solution revolves around CTRL Code's mission to inspire and empower young minds by providing opportunities to learn the fundamentals of computer science and programming!
We aim to foster a passion for the technological aspect of STEM, particularly among children who have not had the opportunity to explore these fields. Ultimately, by equipping kids with computer science-based tools, resources, and opportunities, we aim to empower youth to become the innovators of tomorrow in an increasingly digital world.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to inspire and empower underserved youth by providing opportunities to learn the fundamentals of computer science and programming! This mission is centered on three MAIN ASPECTS:
Educating Youth
We are committed to empowering children by providing educational classes and resources that equip youth with essential skills and knowledge in computer science and technology! Through these we aim to foster a passion for the technological aspect of STEM primarily among children who haven’t been given the chance to explore these fields.
Advocacy
Through contacting educators and social campaigns, we actively advocate for equitable access to technological resources, striving to raise awareness about the importance of STEM education and its amazing potential for individuals and communities!
Broadening Horizons
Through our efforts, we ultimately aim to broaden horizons and open new doors for youth by inspiring curiosity, creativity, and innovation among young minds, fostering a lifelong passion for learning and exploration in the field of technology!
CODING UNPLUGGED
Through actively recognizing that a primary reason many underserved children in Nigeria lack a computer science-based education is due to the lack of a technological device, CTRL Code founder and Nigerian student currently living in the US, founder Mary Adegbesan, created and published the completely offline hands-on programming book, "Coding Unplugged: An Offline Guide to Python Programming."
This guide/workbook is dedicated to guiding young students through the complex world of computer programming and serves as a great introduction to the Python programming language! Python programming topics such as variables, data types, functions, algorithms, etc., along with practice exercises and offline coding challenges, are covered through engaging explanations and graphics in this work!
